Electrician FAQ

Pricing, response times, permits, emergencies and warranty. If your question is not here, call (833) 652-8933 and ask.

What areas of California do you serve?

All of it. Rupert Electrical Solutions covers 482 cities across 54 California counties, from Crescent City down to Chula Vista and out to the desert communities. Our locations directory lists every city with its own page, or just call (833) 652-8933 and we will confirm coverage for your address.

Are you available 24 hours a day?

Yes. The (833) 652-8933 line is answered by a live dispatcher 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. Emergency electrical faults get worse while they wait, so we do not use voicemail for after-hours calls.

How does your pricing work?

We diagnose the problem first, then quote a flat price for the repair or installation before any work starts. You approve the number, then we work. There is no hourly meter running and no after-hours surcharge added at the end.

Do you charge a diagnostic fee?

Diagnostic visits carry a stated fee that we quote on the phone before dispatching, and it goes toward the repair if you proceed. Replacement and installation quotes are free.

How fast can you get to me?

Same-day is normal for repairs. Emergency calls usually get a technician within the hour in metro areas. When you call (833) 652-8933, the dispatcher gives you a real arrival window based on where the nearest van is.

What is considered an electrical emergency?

Burning or fishy smells from an outlet or panel, sparking or arcing, scorch marks, a warm panel cover, a breaker that trips instantly with nothing connected, half the house dark while the street has power, or any water near electrical equipment. Turn the circuit off and call immediately.

Do you handle permits and inspections?

Yes. Panel upgrades, service changes, EV charger circuits, rewires and new circuits are permitted work. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection and meet the inspector.

Do you work on commercial property?

Yes, and a large share of our work is commercial: offices, retail, restaurants, warehouses, medical suites and multifamily buildings. Most of it is scheduled after hours so the business keeps trading.

What payment methods do you accept?

Major credit cards, checks and bank transfer. Financing is available on larger projects such as panel upgrades, whole house rewiring and generator installation.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes, covering both labor and the parts we supply. The term depends on the work, and it is stated in writing on your quote before you approve it.

Can you install a charger, generator or fixture I bought myself?

Yes, that is common. We will install owner-supplied equipment and tell you honestly if a specific unit is a poor fit for your service or your fixtures before we start.

What if the job needs a second visit?

If a fault is intermittent we can install monitoring to catch it rather than charging you for repeat visits. If a repair we performed does not hold, we come back on our warranty.

Do I need a panel upgrade before adding an EV charger?

Not always. It depends on your load calculation. Sometimes a load management device lets you charge on existing service for far less than an upgrade. We run the calculation and price both options.

Is knob and tube wiring a problem?

Existing installations are generally allowed to remain, but the insulation is long past its service life, there is no ground, and many California insurers now decline or load policies over it. That combination is why owners replace it.

How do I know if my electrical panel is unsafe?

Warning signs include a Zinsco or Federal Pacific Stab-Lok label, rust or water staining inside, double-tapped breakers, warmth or humming at the cover, a burning smell, or a fuse box rather than breakers. Any of those is worth a look.

Can you come out tonight?

In most of California, yes. Call (833) 652-8933 and the dispatcher will tell you the nearest available technician and a real arrival window rather than a vague promise.

Still have a question?

The fastest way to get an answer is to call. Describe the symptom, and the dispatcher will tell you whether it needs a technician today, whether it can wait, and roughly what the fix involves.
